Photographer Bo Hansen kindly produced this fantastic set of pictures. Our trusty Sound & Light Man Jeremy also managed to grab a few pretty decent shots from the back - here's a selection. Who said men can't multi-task?
Hafla Raffle Helps Oxford Food Bank
This year our hafla raffle raised £257 for Oxford Food Bank, who distribute at least £25 worth of food for every £1 raised. That means you, the ticket buyers and prize donors, helped to distribute a whopping £6,425 worth of fresh food that might otherwise have gone in the bin! This scheme both reduces waste and benefits people who couldn't otherwise afford to eat properly.
A special thank you to our lovely ticket-sellers, Lauren and Simon. Well done everyone, and thank you very much.
Hathor and Friends Rock Kidlington!
Hathor's annual hafla rocked once again, thanks to the brilliant dancers and friends who clapped, cheered, danced, shopped and brought an air of glamour and fun to Exeter Hall. We were treated to all kinds of spectacle, with the standard of performance sky high from both regulars and new stars. The sound of jolly festivities drew in the only guests we allow without tickets, the local police patrol, and our wonderful MC Janet showed everyone how to embrace the law.
Save the Date for Hathor's 2011 Hafla
We are delighted to confirm that our 2011 hafla will be at Exeter Hall in Kidlington on Saturday 4th June. Please pencil it in your diaries now, and get started on sewing those sequins!
Tickets will go on sale in early April, when you can also request a dance slot. Please note that ticket orders, dance slot requests and other queries will be dealt with after 2nd May so don't panic if you don't get a response right away. Thank you for your patience.
Hafla Raffle
A big thank you to this year's hafla audience and vendors. Your generosity in buying raffle tickets or donating prizes enabled us to raise a grand total of £300 for Sobell House Hospice, in memory of Gavin Anderson, a family friend of one of Hathor's members. Gavin's family and friends are working hard to raise £10,000 to support the hospice which cared for him during his illness, so on their behalf as well at Hathor's - THANK YOU.
Hathor's 11th Hafla a Scorching Success!
On one of the hottest, most humid nights of the year, our hafla still managed to pack 'em in with 22 acts of amazing variety and colour. From fan veils to umbrellas, feather fans to zills, sticks to wings and lots of gloriously bouncing hips, the now-celebrated Game of Three Halves just kept them coming.
Hathor has a Facebook page.
Find us on Facebook - just search for "Hathor". We're the one with the picture of a swirly skirt.
We'll be posting info about where to see us perform next, with links to this website, the galleries and so on.
Hafla Raffle 2009
We're pleased to tell you that your support in buying tickets for this year's hafla raffle has raised £263.65 for Maggie's Centre - not bad for fundraising in the credit crunch! A supporter also gave us £50 which she graciously told us to use as we see fit, so we've added that to bring the total to £313.65.
